HUMANS

Humans are one of the basic races of Niria, having no special abilities, but they are open for a lot of potential. Humans are jack of trades, having no particular mastery, but they are very well capable of learning almost anything, from spells to combat, even the art of stealth. Humans are sort of environmentally adaptable, being able to live in most of the regions except Ashfall, the area just not stable enough for proper living by them. There are no subraces for humans, other than the other obvious aesthetic differences between them.

ELVES

Elves are humanoid people, usually having a taller yet thinner frame than humans, yet this isn’t how you would be able to determine one, considering they can look incredibly similar to them. The best way to see them from others would be their notable ears, having a small (Or large) point at the tip of them. Elves are born with a certain affinity to magic, the subraces each having a different form of power with it. High elves, with light, almost a golden color skin, have an affinity for all types of magic, but not really having mastered any at the start. Wood elves, usually shorter than the other elf types, have a strong ability to nature magic, their lack of skill  in any other magic made up for in stealth and marksmanship. Dark elves, most noticeable by their blue hued skin, are adept in the destruction, mainly fire, and illusive magics, mainly being hired as assassins or nightblades for their natural skill in stealth and blades.

CYROPO

The Cyropo are much like humans, having the many different shapes and sizes they can be. Cyropo can be noticed by their eyes, being a bright blue or even white color, but that is not their only distinctive feature. From being in the mountains for so long, they have a natural affinity to cold, being able to resist it better than the other races, also having the ability to master ice magic quickly. Other than being good with ice magic, they are quite good at smithing, being able to actually make armours out of ice, enchanting it to be harder than steel, yet let the wearer retain the armor’s temperature, letting them cool during battle, not heating up at any time with the exception of enchantments. With the smiths and sorcerers, they managed to build Frostmoor together, the Smiths making the large bricks of ice while the magic users enchanted them for strength, building the town up.

HYBRIDS

Hybrids are humanoid creatures, having a large variety of shapes and sizes, still able to remain some human resemblance (Except for certain attributes, as which is more likely to become tempered, become more affectionate, and other things.) Since there is a lot of different hybrid subraces, there will be a list of possible choices, and what each hybrid actually is. The subraces for hybrids are: Neko (Half cat), Inu (Half dog), Kitsune (Half fox), Cowgirls (Name is obvious, no?), Centaurs (Lower half of a horse, may have horns/ears atop head), Satyrs (Bottom half of a goat, usually having goat horns on top of the head.), and Werebats (Half bat).

GODS

Gods, also known as deities, are some of the most important beings in Niria, are capable of taking any shape or form they please. Of course, each god has their own distinct affinity and abilities, usually governing over a certain region. Every god is unique in it’s own way, though some can be similar to each other, or managing to mimic them completely if given enough effort. Most gods are revered by people, shrines big and small for them. Some gods, however, are forgotten, living among the people with normal lives, still retaining their immortality and abilities.

MERFOLK

Merfolk, also known as mermaids or mermen, are half fish, and half human, giving them a sort of humanoid upper body, and the lower half of a fish/aquatic animal, giving them extreme speed in water, but completely rendering them immobile on land, making it hard for them to move around. Merfolk are most common around water sources, subraces dependent on what type of water it is. In the ashen waters of The Black Coast, the merfolk’s scales are a dark black/gray color, their fins adapted to go through the thicker waters of it’s sea. The freshwater Merfolk usually establish communities in lakes or large rivers, their scales being a simple blue or silver color. The saltwater variants are the most colored, having many different color variants, the exceptions being the Black/Gray colors, those only specific to the Black Coast subrace.

ANGELS

Angels, also known as “The Ascended”, are much like humans, actually being able to be able to hide among them if they have sufficient cloaking spells. The most distinctive trait of Angels are their wings, which greatly vary in size, shape, and type, depending on the subraces of said angel. Almost all angels will have a halo on their body, whether or not they are wearing it or not, also greatly varied by angel type. Fallen angels are, well, angels that had failed their duty and had been casted back to Niria, usually having darkened wings and/or a broken halo, while the Archangels have fortified wings, usually armored with bright scales, while their halo could be adapted into a ring or necklace, or even a choker. All angels, regardless of subrace, have an affinity to cloaking magic, obviously to live among the humans without being noticed, their halos holding their large mana sources.

DEMONS

Demons, in the simplest form, are denizens of the Underworld, also known as Neben (Nee-ben). While some are bound to people via spells and/or contracts in the overworld of Niria, many are free to roam around Neben, some even unbound in the overworld because of botched summoning rituals. Demons are capable of many shapes and forms, the most humanoid demons can probably be spotted out by the slight red tint in their skin and eyes, their teeth also being sharpened by a tad. The more demonic/inhuman subraces of demons would include the Imps, Scamps, Wisps, Incubi/Succubi, and much more.

DWARVES

Dwarves are a humanoid race, most known for their short stature, matching the average dwarf’s temper. The dwarves’ homeland is bordering on the Black coast, pretty much the only habitable place there. In appearance, they are short, their natural body weight usually being light from the small size. In all, they are essentially shorter humans, having the “Jack of all trades” trait, and can live in almost any area, even though their homeland is bordering the Black coast, they are spread out around the various regions, usually as mercenaries or spellswords, the ones that are settled living as merchants or other having other various jobs.

PARANORMAL

Paranormals, while each and every one of them is unique in their own way, all have one thing in common; all of them are cursed with undeath. From the fearsome reaper to the simple wisp, all of them are in the afterlife, and as a result they are considered undead, in an ethereal form. Most paranormals are transparent to some degree, but others have the ability to become completely invisible. The subraces of the paranormal race are the Wisps, Ghosts, Reapers, and other various Undead and ethereals.

ORCS

Orc-Kin are an elven race, considered ‘ugly’ from most of the other races. Normally, orc-kin are tall and bulky, their skin colors varied greatly, from somewhat human like, to various shades of green, red, and blue, and sometimes more exotic colors such as purple and even various shades of pink. Orcs, while they used to live in the Or’sero desert, their settlements have either been destroyed from the sand deserts or the constant raid attempts, causing most of them to become nomadic, some of them migrating to Telvan Arde and settling there, while others spread further away from their region, having their own camp settlements, not really marked on maps because they aren’t considered important to travelers. However, merchants usually mark certain orc settlements on their map for trading. Subraces of the Orc Kin are trolls, which usually live in caves and have darker tones of skin and are normally bulkier, the Goblins, which normally have green shades of skin even though they can be the other colors as well, and the most common are Orcs, which are varied greatly among each other in skin tone and size.

FAERIE

Fae, also known as fairies or fairies, are very human-like, and have more magic capacity than the normal human race, some even sporting small wings from their back. The fae’s sizes are varied greatly, some being the size of a thumb, while some can be the size of any average human. A unique trait of the Fae is that most ‘unnatural’ hair colors (Blue, Purple, Pink, the like) are natural colors for them, the same going for their eye color. Their wings are varied, some insect like, while others are reminiscent of dragons or birds. Fae are most known living in the forests of Essche-Elm, while some of them are scattered across the regions, their magic affinity greatly dependant on where they were born, the most common ability being nature magic, while others can be ashen magic, illusion spells, and even granting wishes.
